Afton Bernice McKee Hearn went to be with her Lord February 14, 2016, at the age of 89.

She was born December 16, 1926 to Herbert Allen McKee and Alice Belle Adams McKee.

She graduated from Sonora High School and later married the love of her life, Jack Hearn on May 2, 1946.

Bernice and Jack were in the trucking and feed business all of their married life.

Bernice continued in the trucking tradition after Jack passed away by operating a truck with her son, Jack, Jr. Bernice and Jack spent many enjoyable years working on their farm near Eldorado.

Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, after 63 years of marriage, her parents, her sister Myrt Armentrout, and her youngest granddaughter and namesake, Melissa Bernice Hearn.

She is survived by four children, Jack Jr. and wife Judy of Lipan, Allen (Hoot) and wife Kathy of San Angelo, Betty Moore and husband Wayland of Brownwood, and Doris Hearn of Arlington. Bernice is also survived by four grandchildren, Jason Hearn of Brady, Laura Tyler and husband Wayford of San Angelo, Jodie Evans of San Angelo, and Jared Weant and wife Lauren of Ft. Worth, Tx.; also eight great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.

Services were held Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at First Baptist Church, with burial following in Sonora Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jared Weant, Dylan Weant, Wayford Tyler, Russell Chalk, Larry Chalk, and Dean Burns.

Honorary pallbearers were Bud Whitehead, Joe David Ross, Ronnie Cox, Albert Ward, Al Elliott, and Bill Karnes.
