Valentina Gonzales Gallegos was called to her heavenly home on August 31, 2017 at the age of 83.  She passed peacefully with family by her side.

Valentina was born in Crystal City, Texas on February 14, 1934.

She was raised by her grandparents the late Valentin and Paulita Favela.

Valentina was the daughter of the late Petra Favela and the late Juan and Teodora Gonzales.

She was married to the love of her life, the late Francisco (Kiko) Gallegos for 34 years.

Valentina devoted most of her life as a caregiver to family, friends and anyone that she thought needed her assistance.

She was a devoted Catholic and was a very faithful servant to the Lord.

She loved the Devine Mercy celebration and was a member of the St. Anne’s Guadalupanas.

She enjoyed having lunch with friends at the Senior Center and playing BINGO on Mondays.  She also loved going to Dairy Queen for ice cream cones and banana splits with her very good friend Teresita.

Valentina was known as the #1 cheerleader for the Sonora Broncos.  She missed very few games beginning when her children and grandchildren were in Sonora schools.

She hadn’t had any family members on the team or band in several years, but she was always at home as well as out of town games cheering and yelling at the referees for throwing out too many yellow flags.

She would have “VICTORY” parties at her home after home games often serving her famous menudo and tamales.

Coach Cordell and Coach Favila presented her family a team autographed football and the first game of the season was dedicated to her.

She was surely enjoying this honor tremendously with a big smile from heaven on Friday.

She also loved watching the Dallas Cowboys games.

A highlight in her life was when her grandson Raymond took her to watch the game at Texas Stadium.

Valentina is preceded in death by her husband, grandparents, parents and brother Eloy Gonzales.

Valentina is survived by her daughter Mary Gallegos Martinez, grandson and his wife Raymond and Jean Martinez and great-grandsons Matthew and Michael, granddaughter and her husband Angela and Joseph Gonzales and great-grandsons Danny and Isaiah, her son and his wife Carlos and Antonia Gallegos and granddaughter Gabriella Gallegos Duran and great-grandchildren Anna, JC and Richard, grandson and his wife Frank David and Kim Gallegos and great-grandchildren Xavier, Aria and Leelee.

She is also survived by her son and his wife Frank and Lilia Gallegos and grand-kitty Frenzy, her daughter and husband Cecilia and Arturo Galindo, grandson and his wife Conrad and Kathy Galindo and great-grandchildren Priya and Oren.

She is also survived by her brother Juan Gonzales, sisters Elida, Pura Elia, and Carmen Gonzales and Juanita and husband Leopoldo Rodriguez and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

She had many endearing names; Valentina, Tina, Vale, Mommy, Mom, Mama, Wuelita, Grandma Valentina, Grandma Valentimes and Aunt Valentina.  She will be missed by all who loved her and knew her.

Her family wishes to express their most sincere thanks to everyone that called and visited her, brought food before and after her passing, attended the service and accompanied family for the rosary novena and continue to visit and share good memories.

Special thanks to Antonia Gallegos for cooking anything she asked for and for the family so the focus could be on her care.

To Marissa and Santiago Faz and Juanita Herrera and Elvia Lopez and everyone that helped them with the meal after the burial service.

There was so much love shared by so many to be able to list everyone’s name.

Love to all!
