Derrel Steve Alley (Steve’O), age 56 died suddenly while on a business trip to Amarillo.

Steve, a resident of Houston was born to Derrel (Warty) Alley and Sue Harper Taylor in Kerrville on April 3, 1961.

While Steve was growing up he lived in many places including Starkville, Miss., Mc Allen, Kerrville, New Orleans, La., Gainesville, Fla. and Stillwater, Okla.

After graduating from Sonora High School, he attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock.

Then, Steve went back to Sonora and began his long career in the oil and gas business.

He went to work for Houston Natural Gas, Enron, Aspen Pipeline, and was currently employed by Blue Fish Pipeline in Houston.

Steve traveled all over the world and worked in many countries, including Venezuela, Peru, Chile, and Dubai.

Steve loved playing golf, hunting, and working on the ranch, and spending time with his friends.

Steve is survived by his brother John Scott Alley of Round Rock, and a sister Suzanne Whitworth of Sonora.

He is also survived by nieces Lindsey Collins of Lubbock, and Kaitlyn Weimers of San Angelo.

He is preceded in death by his parents Warty Alley and Sue Taylor, step-dad Roy Lynn Taylor, a special cousin Robert Alley of Midland, and a special niece Alyssa Collins of Sonora.

Steve never met a stranger and always had a smile and a twinkle in his blue eyes for everyone he met.

Graveside services were held Saturday, January 20, 2018 in Sonora Cemetery.

A luncheon with family was held Saturday at the St. John’s Episcopal Parish Hall.
