The city of Clarendon is loaded with history, dating back to the days of Col. Charles Goodnight and the JA ranch. Several of the oldest churches in the panhandle were organized in Clarendon. The city has the oldest functioning courthouse in the state. It also has the oldest newspaper in the panhandle.
