JW Sutton, just shy of 94 years, of Sonora, Texas, passed peacefully on April 9, 2021, “ready to go home and see Maida.” He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who inspired all with his passion for learning and his phenomenal work ethic.

JW was born on May 17, 1927, in Saline, Texas, to Emma and Jim Sutton.
He married Maida Louise Doran on April 14, 1945, and they celebrated nearly 70 years of marriage before her passing in October, 2014.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Sonora for over 60 years, served as a deacon for many years and then continued as deacon emeritus.

He was always willing to lend a helping hand with his electrical expertise or most anything that needed repairing.

JW is survived by son Eddie and wife June, daughter Janice and husband Simon. He was so thankful for his grands: Jason, Becca, Ryan, Brett, Stephanie, Stuart, Misty, Justin, Erika, and Houston and greats: Gracie Leigh, Trew, Swade, Sydney Kate, Saige, Shane and Carsen. He is also survived by one sister Madlyn and husband CG. He was preceded in death by wife Maida, infant son Don, and siblings Emma V, Iola, Fred, and Willie Ann.

The family extends special thanks for Sonora, the surrounding communities and his medical care teams in Sonora, Eldorado, and San Angelo.
He was so blessed and we are eternally grateful for all. He loved his family, his many friends, his church and the Broncos. Please honor his memory by paying it forward with a kind deed.
