Robert Taylor Lewis Jr., age 94, passed away February 1, 2018 in Gainesville.

Robert was born December 25, 1923 in Gainesville to Robert Taylor and Geraldine (Jones) Lewis Sr.

He attended school at Webb School in Tennessee, riding horseback to and from school every day.

Robert attended Texas A&M before returning to Cooke County where he was a farmer and rancher.

He proudly served with the Rural Electric Association as a director for 40 years.

At different times during his life Robert attended First Baptist Church, Temple Baptist Church, and Westminster Presbyterian Church.

He was pleased with what he did during his life and pleased with his loving family.

Robert provided his children and grandchildren a good Christian example by which to live.

Survivors include a son Robin Lewis and wife Mary of Gainesville, daughter Melissa Lewis Teaff and husband Carl of Sonora and son James Martin Lewis of Gainesville.

He is also survived by grandchildren including Brian Lewis, Shannon Lewis, Taylor Najera, Traci Teaff, Jo Anna Schaible, Robert Carl Teaff, Tiffany Schultz, Kerry Ford, Melissa Sue Lewis Laura LeAnn Lewis, 16 great-grandchildren and a sister Jones Vestal of Gainesville.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Laura Lee Lewis, wife Polly Highfill Lewis, wife Louise Thurman, wife Jean Lewis and sister Rebecca Lewis Sparks.

Funeral services for Robert are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 4, 2018, at Westminster Presbyterian Church with Rev. Darrell McIntyre officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church or the American Cancer Society.
