Dickie Joe Wood

Dickie Joe Wood, 76, of Sonora, passed away, Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo.

He was born to Alvin Newton Wood and Chloa Hortense Batte Wood on March 14, 1944 in Big Rapids, Michigan.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1964 until 1968 before returning home to work in the oil field until his retirement.

He married Marilyn Joy Mormon on July 30, 1973 in Sonora, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Billye Howle and Suzanne Taylor.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Joy Mormon Wood of Sonora; a daughter, Brooke Wood of Sonora, and a son, Brandon Wood and wife Chelsey of Granbury, Texas; a sister, Judy Wood Morrison and husband Tommy; and three grandchildren Skyler Wood, Kiara Favela and Emma Wood.

His earthly remains were cremated and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
