Doyle Vivian Morgan, 87 , a longtime resident of Sonora, Texas died April 6, 2018 at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo, TX.
Doyle was born March 21, 1931 in Madison County, Texas , the son of Vivian and Maudine Morgan.

He spent the first 14 years of his adult life as a public school teacher and administrator.

From 1967 through 1994 he was the owner of Doyle Morgan Insurance and Real Estate.

From 1996 until 2012 he worked for FEMA in public assistance. He worked 41 national disasters by assisting public entities in grant applications.

During his younger years Doyle was active in all community affairs. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Sonora and served as secretary/treasurer for a number of years as well as a member of the official board.

He was also mayor and a member of the city council of Sonora, president and member of the Lillian M. Hudspeth Hospital board, a past president of Sonora Downtown Lions Club, a member of the Masonic Lodge, one of the organizers of the Sutton County National Bank, and a charter member of Sonora Golf Club.

Doyle enjoyed every moment spent with his family, his work, but also loved the great outdoors.

Hobbies included hunting, fishing (especially on the Devil’s River), and golf.

Doyle is survived by his wife of 67 years, Fae, two daughters, Kathy Davis and husband, Matt, and Marilyn Whitten and husband, Ross.

He is also survived by five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, Christi and Obadiah Savage, Vivian and Harper, Wade and Shannon Spain, Tyler and Mason, Travis and JJ Whitten, Clara and Kacie Jo, Toni and Matt Hanson, Hanna, Hadley, and Henlee and Clay and Amy Whitten, Walker, Barrett, and Reed.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church, Sonora.
