Nina M. Smith Langford Moller passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2018 in Kerrville, TX.
The only child of Herman McCain Smith and Blanche Hardeman Smith, she was born in Waco, TX on September 30, 1931. Her family moved often when she was a child but she made many good friends.
She graduated from Sonora High School in 1949 and then attended the University of Texas remaining a true Longhorn fan until her death. In 1951, she married Davis C. “Clint” Langford and they had two children, Roger and Claire.
Nina was a substitute teacher in the Sonora schools and also was very active in the First United Methodist Church serving as a Sunday School teacher for many years.
She was very much a participant in her children’s school and extracurricular activities, being active in PTA, 4-H Club, Band Boosters, Speech and Drama activities, and she seldom missed a game in which her children participated. Nina and Clint also enjoyed being a part of the Fling Ding Club. They remained in Sonora until Clint’s retirement in 1979. Then, they moved to the Texas Hill Country where they enjoyed only a few years until Clint’s death.
Nina enjoyed being a substitute teacher at Ingram Tom Moore High School and she also became active in the First United Methodist Church in Kerrville. She served on the Board of the Children’s Ark, helped with the Workshop Group, was a part of the Bereavement Committee, and was a long time member of the Century Sunday School Class. Nina later married Weems Moller in 1988 and they were active members of the River Hills Country Club, enjoying golfing, club dinners, dancing and couples bridge groups. They were married 17 years when Weems passed away.
Nina enjoyed the beauty of God’s earth and spent fun times with her family at the Langford Ranch in Bandera County. She was affectionately known as “Mommo” by her grandchildren and she was most proud of them and their accomplishments including her 3 great-grandsons.
Nina’s life can be described as one of service and the strongest of faith in God. She will be greatly missed by her survivors, son Roger (Kaye) Langford of Bandera, daughter Claire (Steve) Parks of Austin and grandchildren, Clint (Chrystal) Langford of Boerne, Davis Parks of Austin, Laci (Steve) Reynolds of San Antonio, Ellen Parks of Austin, and Blaine (Rachel) Langford of College Station and great grandsons, Cade, Cason and Cody Langford of Boerne. She is also survived by brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Travis and Nancy Langford of Bandera, as well as several nieces and nephews. Additionally, she is survived by her Smith family aunts, uncles and cousins. She also leaves behind her cherished cat, Kiki.
The family would like to thank Peterson Hospice, RiverPoint Assisted Living, and the special caregivers of Caring Senior Services for their love and care for Nina.
A memorial service will be held to honor Nina’s life at 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Kerrville. Nina has requested that memorials be made to the Children’s Ark Scholarship Fund at First United Methodist Church in Kerrville.
