Robert “Bob” Henry Dickenson, Jr. was born December 13, 1940, in Stamford, to Robert H. Dickenson, Sr. and Dorothy Spoon Dickenson.
He passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2020, in Abilene, TX.

A 1958 graduate of Stamford High School, Bob attended Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, where he played in the Cowboy Band.

Bob served his country in the U.S. Navy prior to settling in Stamford where he met the love of his life, Miss Ruth Ann Harris. Bob and Ruth Ann were married February 25, 1963 at Trinity Baptist Church.

Bob began a lifelong career with Lone Star Gas in 1966, moving several times with his job before settling in Sonora in 1977. Bob retired in 2010 and moved to Abilene where he became a member of the Wylie Baptist Church and the Christian Men’s Motorcycle Club. His favorite hobby was fishing.

Preceding Bob in death were his parents, son Ricky Dickenson in 1975, 3 stepbrothers, Marvin Harvey, Melvin Harvey and Albert Harvey.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 56 years, Ruth Ann Dickenson of Abilene, TX; 1 daughter, Robbi Harris and husband Mike of Breckenridge, TX; 1 son Russell Scott Dickenson of Abilene, TX; 1 sister-in-law, Richie Neighbors and husband Monty of Abilene, TX; niece Randa Tucker and husband Tony of Abilene, TX, nephew, Ryan Slapak of Joplin, MO; granddaughter Mackenzie Harris of College Station, TX and numerous great nephews and 1 great niece and a host of friends.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel (807 Columbia St.) in Stamford, TX with the Rev. Rick Grant officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.
