A fatal crash claimed the life of two young women, one from Sonora, early Sunday morning.

Araceli Fe Marin, a 2019 graduate of Sonora High School, died of injuries sustained in a head on collision. She was 19 years old.

A Christoval woman, 27-year-old Alyssa Ashley Glasgow, also died of injuries sustained in the crash.

At 3:15 a.m. Sunday, June 21, 2020, DPS Troopers responded to a report of a major vehicle crash at the intersection of US 277 and FM 2335, 3 miles North of Christoval, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety report.

A preliminary investigation report by DPS stated that Marin was driving a 2014 Fiat 500 and traveling North on US Hwy 277 when she crossed the center stripe divider and struck another vehicle.

Glasgow was traveling South on US Hwy 277 in a 2006 Nissan, Pathfinder, according to the DPS report.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Susan Werner, according to DPS.

Both were wearing seat belts, according to DPS. Weather and road conditions were reported as clear and dry.

No other information on the crash was available.

DPS Trooper Joseph Brechtel, San Angelo, Texas Highway Patrol investigated.

DPS Troopers Jaron Yarbrough, Matt Walts and Dustin Henderson, San Angelo, Texas Highway Patrol and Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office and Christoval Fire Department assisted.

Marin is the daughter of Genaro and Diane Marin of Sonora.
