Sonora will host a State Qualifier 7on7 tournament this weekend. The games will begin on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. at Bronco Stadium. The concession stand will be open with proceeds supporting the Bronco cheerleaders.

The City of Sonora has "the bragging rights "as being selected the most to host of Texas 7on7 state qualifying tournament (SQT) in West Texas. Sonora can also be considered the "center of excellence "for 7on7 in West Texas. Sonora is one of 16 cities select to host an SQT. Each SQT in division 3, 1A-3A D2 will qualify 2 teams for state competition. Sonora will host eight teams who will compete in two pools of four teams each ultimately crowning a champion winner and a runner up, both will qualify for the state championship in division 3 on June 24 and 25, 2021 in College Station. These two qualifiers will compete with 32 of the best teams in Texas.

The Broncos will be competing as well as Eldorado, Wink, Miles, Ballinger, Van Horn and Brady. The Broncos must gain a first or second place victory to be qualified to attend the State 7on7 tournament in College Station.
Sonora, Miles, Junction and Eldorado will be in the Norm Rousselot pool and will play on the North Field. Brady, Van Horn, Wink and Ballinger will be in the Luther Creek pool and will play on the South field.

Colonel Pete Bradley leads the 7on7 programs, he has made it possible for the teams to compete in several tournaments this season. The 7 on 7 football program operates solely on public donation.

September 16, 2021 has been slated as donor appreciation night, the donors names pictures will be displayed on the scoreboard and recognition will take place during half time at the varsity football game.
