You may have seen the orange-vested 4-H kids picking up trash this past weekend. That is part of their community service work.

November 13th offers another opportunity for all or us to do something for our community.

November 13th is the date for the annual Recycle Roundup.

It will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Bronco Bubbles Car Wash (404 S Crockett Ave.).

It’s an opportunity to recycle and to donate items which someone else can use.

Some items collected are available free of charge for anybody in the community who can make use of them.

These include appliances in good repair, computers, electronics, TV’s and microwaves.

You may also bring in scrap computers and computer parts (memory boards, hard drives,
disc drives, etc.). Please be aware that we cannot accept older televisions or other electronics with glass.

You will also have the opportunity to bring in customary recycle items such as corrugated cardboard and chipboard (i.e. ‘cereal box’ material), magazines, and phone books.

Other paper items include newspaper and newspaper flyers, office paper, and junk mail.

Aluminum Cans, tin Cans, No. 1 and No. 2 plastics (separated and no caps) are also welcomed. Lastly, are items such as old cell phones & dry cell batteries (chargeable & non-rechargeable).

The event is a local effort of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, the Natural Resource Conservation Service, and the City of Sonora.

Here’s your chance to clean out your storage and free up a little room.

In case of inclement weather, the event will take place at the Sutton County 4-H Barn located behind the Civic Center. Hope to see you then!
