On Monday, November 22, 2021, Sutton County Commissioners met at the Sutton County Annex to handle a handful of approvals and acceptances.

Judge Rachel Duran spoke on the Border Prosecution Unit Resolution, it is a supplemental grant for HB 9-Operation Lone Star. District Attorney Laura English was on hand to answer any questions. Commissioner Bob Brockman spoke on a plan he and a few others have been trying to put into place. The Code Red Emergency System is an alert system for those in a rural area. About a year ago, this plan was needed for wild fires and anything else that might come up. Unfortunately, with the way things are going these days, this system will also be used for notifying individuals of illegals that have fled from officers.

Chief Deputy DuWayne Castro spoke saying that this system will be used for emergencies only. This system will be a $2,500 expenditure from the sheriff’s office budget.

Judge Duran said that Sutton County will be adopting a Concho Valley Regional Adult Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) Resolution. This resolution is to help with under reported and under investigated sexual assault crimes.

Sutton County is to appoint a member of the Concho Valley SART as mandated by Senate Bill 476 of the 87th Legislature and set forth in the Texas Local Government Code Chapter 351 and Section 351.251. Among those appointed will be the Sutton County Sheriff or designee and Chief of Police or designee.
