The driver of a vehicle that crashed on I-10 Thursday afternoon, July 16, fled the scene.

At 4:49 p.m. Thursday, DPS, Sutton County law enforcement, EMS and Sonora Volunteer Fire Rescue was dispatched to a rollover crash on I-10 at the 401 mile marker.

Upon arrival to the scene, officers did not find anyone in the vehicle nor the immediate area.

A report of a man running across I-10 and down the embankment on the south side led them on a search. The man was located and apprehended near the 400 mile marker entrance ramp on the opposite side of the crash.

After being questioned by law enforcement and evaluated by paramedics, the man was transported back to the scene of the rollover.

At the scene, a DPS Trooper and a deputy found suspicious items while searching the vehicle. A DPS Trooper showed the man a broken methamphetamine pipe before securing it in an envelope along with other items.

EMS was called back to the scene of the rollover to evaluate the man because he was complaining of pain.

He was transported by ambulance to LMH Hospital where he was released.

No arrest was made and no other information was available, according to law enforcement.
