On Wednesday, July 14, 2021 Lillian M. Hudspeth Memorial Hospital hosted a retirement celebration for Marcos “Beaver” Perez who has been with the facility for 21 years. Mr. Perez was the maintenance supervisor.

The event was held in the pavilion located at the hospital, which was decorated with balloons and banners to celebrate Mr. Perez. Hamburgers and hot dogs were prepared and served as well as several dips, chips, fruit and vegetable trays. Mr. Perez was joined by his son, Marcos for the celebration as well.

In other hospital news, the facility was awarded a $9,700 grant that will be used to improve services in the behavioral health department. The physical therapy department has a new face, Robert Romero, PT has joined the team, Romero was previously employed in McCamey. Romero and his wife are in the process of moving to Sonora.

LMH CEO Steve Smith was proud to announce that following open enrollment, 90% of the hospital staff opted to take the health insurance coverage offered by the facility.
This is a huge increase from two years ago when there was almost no employee participation.

The next meeting of the LMH Board of Directors will be on Monday, August 16, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. in the meeting room located at the Wellness Center.
