Kids in Sonora are spending the summer learning about their ancestors.

The Icehouse Ranch Museum is hosting genealogy workshops every other Thursday throughout the month of July.

Workshops are held at the Sutton County Library from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

Local youth, grades 4 through 12 are welcome to participate.

This past Thursday, guest speakers Glen and Linda Fisher talked about their belief in the importance of sharing information with their children and grandchildren about their ancestors.  

Program Coordinator Tammy Fisher, with the help of Elaine and Kyle Donaldson are teaching kids how to interview family members and collect information about their ancestry. The workshops are free. The opportunity to learn how to discover your ancestry is priceless. Donations are accepted.
