AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is reminding the public that the waiver on expiration dates for driver licenses (DLs) and identification cards (IDs) ends on April 14, 2021.
Customers who need to renew are urged to make an appointment or renew online today.
Customers may be able to renew by phone at 1-866-DL-RENEW (1-866-357-3639).
The temporary waiver of certain vehicle title and registration requirements, announced by Governor Abbott on March 16, 2020, due to COVID-19, will end on April 14, 2021. The waiver did not waive standard fees associated with title and registration.
There are three ways to renew, either online at Visit www.TxDMV.gov/register or www.Texas.gov., by mail or in person at the local county tax assessor-collector’s office.
Make sure to make plans to renew overdue DL and Vehicle registrations to avoid additional fees.
