At 12:25 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, Sutton County First Responders were dispatched to a report of an overturned 18 wheeler on I-10 at the 404 exit ramp.

The driver of the truck, Jorge Nicanor Rodriguez-Lopez, was traveling west on I-10 when he attempted to exit.

The semi driven by Rodriguez-Lopez was towing a separate 18 wheel truck. The truck jackknifed when he attempted to make his way up the exit ramp, overturning the towed truck across the side median.

Law enforcement discovered empty alcohol containers while investigating at the scene.

Rodriguez-Lopez was booked into the Sutton County Jail on a charge of Driving While Intoxicated. Traffic was temporarily re-routed to the 400 exit while the accident was cleared.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident. No injuries were reported. Sutton County Sheriff’s Deputies, DPS Troopers, EMS and Sonora Volunteer Fire personnel assisted with the crash.
