The Sonora Chamber of Commerce held their annual banquet Friday, April 16, 2021. Director Donna Garrett welcomed everyone to the event and asked all educators to stand and be recognized for all they do for the community and for our children.

Garrett stated that she wanted to involve the school as much as possible during the banquet. The desserts consisting of Mexican hot cocoa brownies and sopapilla cheesecake were prepared by Mrs. Kate Jenning’s culinary class. The food was prepared by the Sutton County Steakhouse and served by the 2021-2022 cheerleading squad.

After the fabulous meal Donna introduced her current board of directors. President, Becca Love, Vice President, Lorie Cervantez, Secretary, Angie Bryant, Treasurer, Emily Oliver and members Brenda Mungia and Kevin Litterell.

Guest speaker Shanna Castro announced the nominees for all the categories as Miss Sutton County Jaci Dutton and Lions Club Queen Kodi Davis presented certificates.

The educator of the year was awarded to Angie Kissire. Business of the year went to Lawrenco Equipment Specialists and citizen of the year was awarded to David & Hanna Blesing.

Ms. Laura Lewis, the District Director for Senator Charles Perry presented a certificate to each of the winners as well.

The Chamber sold raffle tickets for chances to win rifle. This fund raiser was sponsored in conjunction with Boss Hog. The winner was Joe Torres of San Angelo.

Taking the stage rounding out the evening was the dance featuring new upcoming artist on the rise Colby Swift. The chamber would like to congratulate all of the nominees and winners, and extend a big thank you to everyone that came out in support of them.

The next event the chamber will host is Sutton County Days!
