Dylan Ford of Sonora earned one of the most prestigious junior golf awards while competing in the US Kids Golf Tour Championship this past weekend in San Antonio.

Dylan won the US Kids Golf San Antonio Fall Season Tour Championship Sunday, November 17, 2019. By winning the Tour Championship, he also earned the top points earner for the season and brought home the 1st place glassware trophy as the Season Champion.

This success followed an earlier 3rd place achievement in Denver, CO this past October qualifying him to play in the Optimist International Junior Golf Tournament in Miami, FL next summer.

In August, Dylan also competed in the US Kids Golf World Championships in Pinehurst, NC. He competed in the 12-year-old division representing Sonora, TX.

Competitors from all over the World, over 28 different countries not including the United states, took part in the Championship Tour.

His best finish at the World tournament was this summer with a tie for 20th place out of 165 players.

Dylan was tied for 50th place going into the final round. Out of the 165 players, only five finished the final round under par.

Dylan was one of the five shooting a final round 71, one under par. This catapulted him all the way in to the top 20.

Now 13-years-old, Dylan has been playing competitive golf since he was seven. But he’s always been a multi-sport athlete.

Dylan has won the San Antonio US Kids Golf Spring Tour for the past three consecutive years. Thus, he has qualified to play in the largest junior golf tournament in the World for three years now.

He has been very successful in every tour he’s played in.

Last year alone he earned Gold Glove in the Sonora Baseball All Star Tournament, for leading his Sonora City League basketball team to an undefeated season. And, in last year’s YMCA Super Bowl Game, he was Co-Player of the game scoring two touchdowns and throwing for another as the team won 21-0.

Last year, his most impressive award was being named the male 6th Grade Citizen Award.

By far, the most gratifying award for a parent.

As a 9-year-old, Dylan qualified to play in The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour National Championship in Orlando, Florida. He has also won his age division championship in the West Texas Junior Champions Tour four out of the five years he has competed in the tour.

As an 8-year-old, he won a World Qualifier in El Paso and competed in the IMG Academy Junior Golf World Championships in San Diego, California.

As a 7-year-old, he won the North Texas PGA Championship in Dallas, Texas.

He also tied for 1st place at age 8, but lost it on the 1st play-off hole.

Congratulations Dylan!
