Stephanie Richey is the new editor at The Devil’s River News.

She and her fiancee Rene have lived in Sonora for a year and a half.

Stephanie has two children currently enrolled at Sonora ISD, Charlie (17) and Macey (11). They also have two adult daughters, Makenzie and her husband Jonathon of Rocklin, California, and Madeline of Lubbock.

Rene also has four daughters that live in San Angelo. Taylor (17), Ryleigh (11), Laramie (7), and Bristol (6).

Stephanie replaces Kimberley Meyer who served as the newspaper’s editor for almost five years and left Sonora to take a position as the editor of the LaRue County Herald in Hodgenville, Kentucky.

Stephanie is a native of Abilene. She attended Iowa Park High School before earning an Associate Degree in Nursing at Cisco College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing at the University of Texas at Arlington and a Master’s Degree in Hospital Administration from Grand Canyon University.

She is a Registered Nurse and has worked primarily in health care administration in clinics, hospitals and long term care facilities.

She most recently served as the Director of Nursing at the Reagan County Care Center in Big Lake.

Stephanie has been working at the DRN for the past month, training as a reporter and learning about community journalism.

Randy Mankin, the newspaper’s publisher, named Stephanie as the newspaper’s editor on Monday, December 28th.

“I really want to be involved in the community,” Stephanie said on Monday, “and this new job will allow me to do exactly that. I have already gotten to know several people here in Sonora and I look forward to getting to know everyone else.”

Working alongside Stephanie is Angie Bryant, the newspaper’s production assistant and advertising director.
