The Sutton County Health Foundation will hold its only money raising project, the annual Fish Fry, on Sunday, October 2, 2022.

The fish fry is traditionally held on the first Sunday in October in the Sonora Bank drive through. The proceeds go to the Health Foundation and are used for health needs in the county ranging from medical equipment needs of first responders, scholarships for education or training for health care workers, deferral of cost of AirMed, to county medical equipment maintenance.

The foundation does much to help the community, but the fundraiser would not be possible without the LMH Hospital kitchen staff and especially the Dietary Director Antonia Gallegos, known to friends as Tonie. Tonie and her staff order and provide all things needed for the event such as paper goods, cutlery, potatoes and other food products. Additionally, they make, cut, and wrap the delicious dessert brownies that come with the meal.

Another indispensable group who contributes in a big way is the Sonora Volunteer Fire Department. They show up to cook the fish and potatoes onsite; thus, ensuring a fresh plate for all who come to support the health community. They appear to enjoy the camaraderie of the group and their contribution to this worthy cause.

Another supporting group is the Hospital Ranch. The donations from this charitable entity help the SCHF provide some of the more expensive community health needs.

So, remember that date - October 2nd – and come on out to support local health. The suggested donation is still just $10 a plate despite the huge increase in cost of fish and foodstuffs. We will gladly take a larger donation if you feel especially generous!
