Sutton County recorded 18 additional COVID-19 cases this week with nine of those being reported at Lillian M. Hudspeth hospital, according to information provided by County Judge Steve Smith.

Another nine cases were reported by the joint San Angelo/Tom Green County Health Department.

The news comes as the first COVID-19 vaccine is being administered across the nation. Shannon Hospital in San Angelo is in receipt of a supply of the Pfizer vaccine and is scheduled to begin vaccinating health care providers this week.

Meanwhile the State of Texas has changed the way it is tracking COVID-19 cases. As the adjacent chart indicates, the state is tallying confirmed cases, as well as probable cases. Fatalities, active cases and recoveries are also being tracked.
