Tim Flanagan has been named the new Secondary Assistant Principal.

Principal Christina Rodriquez says, “Mr. Flanagan is an asset to our school district especially our secondary campus. He has rapport with the students that we need to run a successful campus and I feel he and I will be a successful team.”

Flanagan began his career with Sonora Independent School District in 2015. He has 29 years of teaching expertise in the fields of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources. Flanagan has taught at five different schools including Sonora.

Superintendent Michael Kissire says, “I have a long professional history with Mr. Flanagan. Our interactions and my observations have developed high opinions of his ability in guiding students to be responsible citizens. I have full confidence in the assets that he brings to campus leadership. Ms. Rodriguez and her staff made a great choice in Tim Flanagan.”

Flanagan graduated from Lamesa High School in 1988 and then he attended Tarleton State. After graduation from Tarleton in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Services and Development. He attended Texas Tech University where he graduated in 1999 with a Masters in Agricultural Education. He completed his Principal Certification in 2010, at the University of Texas Permian Basin.

He has been married to his lovely wife Maritza for 25 years. They have two sons Tully, who is a junior at Texas Tech majoring in Ag Business, and Tanner who will be a senior at Sonora ISD.

Shanna Castro says, “ I have observed Mr. Flanagan as a school board member and as a parent and I have always had great experiences. He is devoted to our children and I expect great things from him as a principal.
Flanagan sums up his career by saying, “I’ve loved every minute of it.”
