Texas A&M Forest Service has awarded $522,162 in grants to Texas landowners for the treatment of more than 18,000 acres with prescribed burning.

On Sunday, January 1, 2023 members of the community gathered at the Sutton County Courthouse to witness the swearing in of multiple new leadership terms.

For months now, 4-H and FFA exhibitors have been feeding, training, and developing their livestock projects. Stock show time is right around the corner for Sutton County. Highlights are as follows: The arrival and weigh-in for livestock show will take place on January 12th from 3 to 6 p.m. at the 4-H barns.

TSGRA, in conjunction with the Texas Section, Society for Range Management, presented the Brockman Ranch with the Outstanding Rangeland Stewardship Award for 2022.

Members of the Sutton County Commissioners Court met Monday, December 12, 2022 for their final meeting of the year. This meeting was also the last for Sutton County Judge Rachel Duran and Sutton County Commissioner Precinct 4 Fred Perez.

On the agenda was a request by the City of Sonora regarding an agreement they have with Loves Truck Stop. Mayor Juanita Gomez was present for the meeting with City Manger via phone. Jim Polonis asked if the city had tried to negotiate the $1.3 million that is owed Loves. Stating that the truck stop is doing very well and that possibly they might be willing to reduce the debt due to the profits that they are seeing.
