The Sonora Broncos traveled to McCamey, Texas to play the 2A-Div 2 Badgers in the final non-district game of the 2024 season.
Last week’s Friday Night Lights was the 83rd time the Eldorado Eagles and the Sonora Broncos have met on the gridiron.
The Broncos were so incredibly close to pulling out a win against the Johnson City Eagles on the road last Friday night.

On Saturday, April 27th, Sonora saw its first (possibly bi-annual) pickleball tournament, though the game has been afoot here for some time. The event was coordinated by Matt Killough with proceeds benefitting Eaton Hill Nature Center & Preserve.
The boys track team had a great showing at The UIL State Track and Field Meet in Austin this past weekend. Team members Kasey Lux, Robert Rodriguez, Kam Aguero and Justin Gonzalez placed sixth as a team.
On Wednesday, April 11, 2024 the Bronco track team advanced six individuals to the next level in seven events.

On Thursday, February 22, 2024 Sonora hosted the annual Colt and Lady Colt relays. The 8th grade girls and the 7th grade boys place first in the home relay event. Results are as follows:
It came down to the wire on Monday night, as the Sonora baseball team grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 10-9, over the San Angelo Saints.
Another successful Sonora Bronco football season has come to a conclusion. We “did that other thing” last Friday night in San Angelo as a former Sonora Head Football Coach used to say.
For the second consecutive year, the Sonora Broncos 11-1, 4-1, defeated the Farwell Steers in the Area playoff round of 2A Div 1 football. The Bronco defense played lights out the majority of the game and keyed on Farwell’s rushing attack, which this season consisted of Corey Stancell and quarterback Jonathan Armstrong. The Broncos limited Stancell to 31 yards on six carries and one touchdown. Armstrong had to run for his life most of the second half of the game and gained 65 yards. Farewell, Farwell.
The Sonora Broncos were the favorites to win last Friday night’s District 3-2A Div 1 game in Forsan. But as former Bronco AD/HFC Jason Herring used to say, “It’s gonna be a WAR” and it was! Forsan’s varsity players and coaches game planned to take no prisoners. It worked and the Buffs upset Sonora 24-22.
This was the fourth meeting between Christoval and Sonora. It was Senior Night at Bronco Stadium. Our grass field looked great and was painted to perfection for the last home game of the 2023 season.
