Alton (Al) Arlie Lynch Jr. passed away May 27th, 2024, in San Angelo, Texas.

Al was born July 27, 1938, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Alton Arlie and Alma Lee Lynch. He had four siblings: Barbara (Peanut), Gladys (Susie), Gene, and Connie. They grew up in Flour Bluff, and after graduating from high school he attended Texas A&I in Kingsville majoring in Chemistry.

During college he married his high school sweetheart, Martha Jane Holder, on January 26, 1958, and they spent the next 66 years together. Over the years, Al and Jane lived and worked in Kingsville, Victoria, La Gloria, and Houston, before moving to Sonora in 1974. Al spent most of his career working in the oilfield for HNG, American Exploration, and Enron. During this time the family made many memories camping at Inks Lake and Dolan Creek on the Devils River.

They remained in Sonora until they retired and moved to the Llano River where Al designed and built their retirement home. In Llano, he enjoyed giving entertaining tours at Fall Creek Winery, woodworking, gardening, and smoking cigars and doing sudoku puzzles on the porch while watching the river roll by. Al and Jane also enjoyed several trips to Australia and New Zealand to spend time with their son, Jesse, and family while they lived overseas.

Al and Jane have three children: Peggy Wallace (Will), Mary Doran (Bryan), and Jesse Lynch (Melissa). They were blessed with eight grandchildren: Hunter, Libb, and Brenna Wallace; Ashley Doran Minor, Amy Doran Blackmon; Bradon, Seth, and Connell Lynch; and nine great-grandchildren: Myers, Libb, and Arlen Wallace; Mya, Leah, and Matthew Minor; Jaydyn Doran, Jordan Blackmon, and Lexi Blackmon. Preceding Al in death were siblings Susie and Gene Lynch and grandchildren Libb Wallace and Bradon Lynch.

Al will be greatly missed by his wife, children, and all their family and friends, but we are grateful that he is resting peacefully with his loved ones in Heaven. The family will have a private memorial in June to celebrate his life and remember his kindness and sense of humor.

Condolences may be sent to Jane Lynch at 6101 Grand Court Apt 108, San Angelo, Texas 76901. Friends wishing to make a contribution in honor of Al can send donations to the LOISD Bradon Lynch Memorial Scholarship Fund care of Jesse Lynch at 4741 FM 2947, Greenville, Texas 75402.

The family sincerely appreciates the care provided by Hospice of San Angelo and the staff at Regency House.
