Blanche Taylor Regeon Babcock, age 92, passed away on December 9, 2024, after battling dementia for just over a year. She was originally from Sonora, Texas, but resided in Fayetteville, Georgia, for the last 50 years. There, she was an active member of the Fayette First United Methodist Church.
For the first 44 years of her life, she was a homemaker, but then she went to work for the USPS until retirement at age 68.
She was preceded in death by her nephew Billie Cash Taylor, her brother Billie Wright Taylor, her husband Royce Regeon, her father Cashes Taylor, her granddaughter Alexandra Regan, her mother Nancy Wright Taylor, her grandson Cody Phillips, & her second husband of 8 years Ken Babcock.
Blanche achieved the honor of valedictorian at Sonora High School and worked summers as a lifeguard. She also graduated from the Uni of Texas where she majored in English in the honor’s program. She loved fishing and hunting. Blanche also enjoyed square dancing, line dancing, two-stepping, and ballroom dancing. She was an avid reader who also enjoyed a good adventure such as river rafting.
Blanche played piano, saxophone, & dulcimer, & led church choirs. She also played tennis, and she rode bikes as a member of the Fayette Biking for Life Club. Blanche gave speeches through her Toastmasters Club, published short stories and poems through the Fayette Writer’s Club, supported veterans through her work in the VFW, worked as a band booster, and attended school and sports events of her girls and her grandchildren. She seldom missed an opportunity to be with her children whether it be attending a wedding or a graduation or just sitting in the ticket booth selling tickets with her youngest daughter Rhonda and her dog Buff. Buff received all the praise which made Blanche proud.
Blanche is survived by her daughter Nanetta (John) Phillips of Sealy, Texas; daughter Resa (Steve) Phillips of Senoia, Georgia; daughter Rhonda (Michael) Weatherup of Brooks, Georgia; and daughter Sherry Phillips of San Angelo, Texas. She is also survived by grandchildren Jessica (PJ) Kenny, Jamie Phillips, Jesse (JD) Barrett, Dr. Jodi (John) Wilson, Toni (Zach) Phillips, Cristie (Jason) Hill, Jake Parks, Chelse (Matt) Swan, Zachary (Erin) Farmer, Bug (Dempsey) Ricketts, as well as numerous great grandchildren.
Blanche loved being home and organizing everything, as well as working in her yard. She also enjoyed traveling and went as far as China.
One mantra by which she lived was: “Sing and smile and pray; that’s the only way.” Her spirit lives on in those of us who loved her dearly.
