David William “Bill” Green, 75, passed away on October 1, 2026, in Austin, Texas. He was born December 5, 1950, in Eldorado to Billy and Gloria Green and grew up in Sonora.

Bill was a man of God whose Christian faith guided his daily life. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, he was generous, hardworking, creative, and determined, a man who could do just about anything. He loved Jesus, his family, and America. He served churches through singing, praise and worship bands, sound, production, and recording sermons to share with others.

His musical journey began with piano lessons at age seven. A natural musician, he learned new instruments quickly. Forming a band with friends as a teenager helped set the course for his life’s work, even as he excelled in football.

Bill was an All-State center and a member of the Sonora Broncos’ 1966 and 1968 Texas state championship teams. He played football at Texas Tech University and Sul Ross State University, graduating from Sul Ross with a degree in physical education and a history minor.

Over five decades, Bill worked as a country singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, studio owner, and recording engineer. He performed nationally and internationally, led Bill Green and the Texas Greats, and reached Billboard’s country singles chart, including #1 in San Antonio for six straight weeks.

After leaving regular touring to spend more time with family, Bill started a booking agency that grew into BGM Network. He and Debbie worked side by side for 46 years in booking, artist management, recording, concert production, staging, publishing, and promotion. With Bill’s musical and production talents and Debbie’s leadership in promotion, they helped artists build successful careers.
Through his leadership in the Texas Music Association, Bill worked with Governor Mark White and fellow music leaders to help establish the Texas Music Commission in 1985, laying groundwork for today’s Texas Music Office.

After many years in San Antonio, Bill and Debbie returned to the Eldorado family farm in October 2024. Being “Papaw” to Nathan, Noah, and Dolly was among his most cherished roles, with memories made around the farm, at the lake, and in his studio, The Chicken House.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Camille Green, and Gloria and Jean Burleson. He is survived by his wife, Debbie; children Cassie Woodliff, Jerrad Green and wife Machel, and Tyler Green and wife Dina; grandchildren Nathan Woodliff, Noah Green, and Dolly Green; brother Tom Green and wife Heidi; sister Angela Crittendon and husband Arthur; and extended family and friends.
