A fireworks-related explosion that heavily damaged a carport, multiple vehicles and other property has resulted in criminal charges against a Sonora man after police say he detonated an improvised explosive device inside the city limits.
Interim Sonora Police Chief John Monk responded July 5 to a residence in the 1000 block of Tayloe Street after receiving reports of an explosion that caused significant property damage.
