Margarita Guerra Noriega-best and lovingly known as Maggie and “Ama”-met our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, while surrounded by her beloved family on Sunday, August 18, 2024.
Ama was giving to all. She was a devout Catholic and Guadalupana who stood ready to supply to any needs of the church. She knew and extended Gods love and grace in every opportunity.
More than anything, Ama fiercely loved her family. She cared for and raised her siblings, and continued to do so in her long life. She deeply loved all of her nieces and nephews as her own.
Ama married the love of her life, Alisandro Noriega on May 4, 1958. Together, they raised five children, and she often spoke with pride about her unwavering dedication to their happiness and success.
Who truly held the most room in her heart were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She joyfully celebrated each and every one of them, sharing her immense pride and gratitude for their lives.
Ama exemplified motherhood to her core. She served her purpose with great joy and fulfillment. Her love was never-ending and unconditional.
Ama is survived by her children Eddie and Sylvia Noriega, Alex Ray Noriega, Robert and Gladys Noriega, John Noriega, and Felicia Van Winkle and Robert Webb; siblings Trini Guerra, Valentin Guerra, Cruz Herrera, Mary Guerra, Angie Ramirez, Hilda Rivas, and Juanita Guerra; Grandchildren and great grandchildren Frank and Heather, Bradley Noriega; Alexis, Isaiah, Kenzie, and Serenity Garcia; Barry and Leanna, Aubrey, Little Barry, Everett, and Talon Noriega; Danielle Noriega with Adam Johnson and Julia Noriega; Michelle and Garrett, Case and Gibson Eison; Derek and Jessica, Laken, and Reece Van Winkle; Brian and Kaylea, Jaxson Van Winkle.
She is preceded in death by her beloved, Alisandro Noriega, parents, Eliseo and Librada Guerra, and siblings Antonio Guerra, Eliseo Guerra, and Carolina Roland.
In this family of many, Ama was the beating heart that held her family together. She was the tender, healing voice that made you feel at home wherever she was. To be loved by her is to be incredibly lucky. She leaves behind 81 years of proof of God’s immeasurable love and favor.
A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Love’s Funeral Home in Sonora, TX.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Sonora, TX. Officiant, Father Reggie. Pallbearers will be Frank Noriega, Barry Noriega, Joey Guerra, Oscar Hernandez, Derek Van Winkle, and Brian Van Winkle.
