Screwworm Case in Northern Mexico Raising Concerns in Southwest Texas

Animal health officials confirmed a case of New World screwworm about 70 miles south of the Texas border, a development that could have implications for ranchers across South and West Texas,

Mexico’s National Service of Agro-Alimentary Health, Safety and Quality reported that an 8-month-old cow in Sabinas Hidalgo, Nuevo León, was infected. The animal had been transported from southern Mexico, where screwworm is active.
