Texas Ends Mandatory Vehicle Safety Inspections Starting Jan. 1

Beginning January 1, 2025, Texas vehicle owners will no longer be required to obtain an annual safety inspection for non-commercial vehicles before registering them. This change, brought about by House Bill 3297 during the 88th Legislature in 2023, effectively ends the state’s vehicle safety inspection program for most personal vehicles.
