Elmore (Sonny) Anderson of Sonora Texas passed away in San Angelo, Texas on Sunday, August 13, 2023. He was 92 years old. He was born in San Angelo on March 31, 1931 to parents Standley and Lonnie (Honey) Anderson.
Sonny grew up in Sheffield, Texas and graduated from Iraan High School in Iraan, Texas. He and his dad were partners in the W.S. Anderson and Son Dirt Construction Co. in Sheffield, and later in Sonora.
He married Ganelle Drennan in 1953 and had three children: Standley Clay Anderson (Sonora), Steve Anderson (San Angelo), and Amy Anderson Scott (Georgetown). In 1980, he married Taeko Sharkey. He is preceded in death by his parents, wives, and two grandsons.
He is survived by his children, grandchildren: Will Anderson (Midland), Sid Anderson (Midland, Misty Scott Adair (Georgetown), Jessica Scott Martin (Chicago), Jordan Anderson (Georgetown), and 6 great-grandchildren, his sister Mary Anderson Wilde (Del Rio), nephew James Wilde (Del Rio), and niece Elizabeth Jesurun (Boerne).
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 20, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Love Funeral Home Chapel in Sonora, followed by interment in Sonora Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at lovefuneralhome.net
